Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Rothschild, WI
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Hourly Rate on W2: $25.00
Monday - Friday 2pm - 10pm (2nd shift)
- Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Supervisor, with assistance from the Maintenance Planner and the Shift Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will safely and efficiently maintain facility equipment, buildings and mechanical systems.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
- The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, in addition to performing grounds maintenance.
- All work will be completed in compliance with EPA, Hazmat, OSHA, and Kerry safety rules and regulations, including all food safety requirements (FSMA, GMP, etc.)
- Independently performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance as scheduled by the Maintenance Planner per Kerry and manufacturer specifications.
- Log all work performed, along with hours worked, in the CMMS program per Kerry and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to all levels of production to minimize production interruptions and downtime.
- Maintain departmental housekeeping and plant sanitation at a level that meets or exceeds Kerry and regulatory standards.
- Active participation on Predictive maintenance, Continuous Improvement of the Process and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Teams.
- Work with outside contractors to ensure the equipment repairs and Preventive maintenance is completed correctly and good communication between contractor's and Kerry facility.
- Responsible for communicating maintenance issues to management, especially those that are a Safety or Health hazard or could result in operational downtime.
- Must be able to prioritize projects or request guidance from Supervisors or Management staff.
- Reports and records all deviations from specified operating parameters and "critical control points,” as established by HACCP/FSMA and Kerry procedures.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with co-workers and other internal customers. Responsible for developing and maintaining strong business relationships with Vendors and Suppliers. When necessary, communicate with plant visitors or guests in a professional, helpful, timely manner to project a positive image of Kerry and our products.
- Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.
- Timely and accurate completion of duties.
- High School or equivalent
- Experience - 2 years in a maintenance field, Food and Beverage experience strongly preferred.
- On Call- Must be available for emergency call-in to perform equipment and system repairs on a rotating basis per established procedures to insure equal distribution of call-in responsibilities.
- General working knowledge of piping fitting, specifically threaded fittings and understanding of pipe sizes and schedules
- Explain and demonstrate cutting torch use for cutting and heating
- Demonstrate basic welding skills, with focus on TIG welding of stainless steel (small brackets, light duty, non-structural)
- Setting a torque wrench to 75 pounds and actually tightening to that setting
- Use a calliper to measure the length of a piece of steel and write down the measurement (Metric and Standard)
- Inspect and change bearings of different types (pillow block, pilot, flange, etc.)
• Able to read and explain motor nameplate data
• Able to explain how to ohm a motor phase to phase and phase to ground
• Able to properly select correct replacement motor
• Able to properly use a VOM (DMM) to read house voltage and current from a wall receptacle
• Use the NEC to properly size a conduit for 20 pieces of #10 gauge wire with THHN insulation
• Read, understand, and explain electrical one-line diagrams
• Able to read a ladder diagram, and use that in troubleshooting systems
• Able to unwire, wire 3-phase electrical motor, and test rotation
