Project Manager II
Lake County, IL (Hybrid)
$70.00 - $75.00/hour
Our client is seeking a Project Manager II to lead and support strategic initiatives across a highly matrixed organization. This individual will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute project plans that drive operational excellence, support long-range business objectives, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management fundamentals, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functional areas. This role requires a proactive, analytical professional who can identify risks, solve problems, and drive projects to successful completion in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, budgets, objectives, and deliverables.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones and business objectives are achieved.
• Translate project strategies into measurable actions and drive execution against established processes and procedures.
• Monitor project performance, identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively address roadblocks.
• Facilitate regular project status meetings and provide updates to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Prepare and deliver written reports, presentations, and project documentation for internal and external audiences.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, quality standards, and project governance processes.
• Develop implementation plans, team charters, risk assessments, and contingency strategies to support project success.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, quality, and overall project outcomes.
• May provide guidance or oversight to project coordinators, contractors, or other project support resources.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; science, engineering, technical, or related field preferred.
• 3-5+ years of project management experience in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with project management tools, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• PMP certification preferred.
• MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• Experience supporting pharmaceutical, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, or operations environments.
• Experience supporting product launches, process improvement initiatives, or operational transformation projects.
• Knowledge of business financial systems and project budgeting practices.

The successful candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment, communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, and can independently drive projects from initiation through completion. Experience leading projects across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, or operations functions is highly desirable.
