Overview
The Legal Invoice Review Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst within the Fulfillment Center of Excellence is responsible for conducting quality assurance reviews for the Legal Bill Analysis Center of Excellence (LBACOE). This role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and compliance of legal invoice reviews performed by analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform expert-level quality assurance reviews of legal fee and expense invoices submitted electronically by law firms and vendors
- Conduct peer reviews of invoice analysts’ work, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client billing guidelines
- Analyze legal context, terminology, and billing structures to validate or adjust invoice line items
- Make additional adjustments to previously reviewed invoices and clearly document justifications
- Correct both adjusted and non-adjusted invoice entries as needed
Appeals & Communication
- Participate in the Appeals Team by engaging in written communication with law firms regarding invoice adjustments
- Leverage legal expertise to support expert-to-expert discussions and resolve disputed billing items
- Work toward mutually agreeable resolutions in alignment with client directives
Analysis & Reporting
- Support appeals mediation efforts by:
- Extracting key legal concepts from invoices
- Analyzing billing activity within the context of client guidelines
- Documenting findings and communications in detailed written summaries
- Prepare documentation for client review and/or resolution conferences involving law firms and stakeholders
Collaboration & Guidance
- Provide insight and guidance to internal business partners on issues and improvement opportunities within the Legal Bill Analysis (LBA) process
- Contribute to ongoing process improvements and quality standards within the LBACOE
Qualifications
- Strong legal knowledge and understanding of legal billing practices
- Experience reviewing legal invoices or working in legal, compliance, or audit environments
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply complex billing guidelines
- Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills
