The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a ­­­­­­­­Sample/Material Logistics Coordinator for a prominent client of ours. This position is in Madison, WI 53711. Details for the position are as follows:

Pay: $30–$32/hour
Duration: 1-year contract (extension possible)

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Sample / Material Logistics Coordinator to support an R&D team focused on peptide-based research. This role sits within a recently acquired, fast-moving biotech environment and plays a critical part in the movement, tracking, and storage of research materials.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving lab environment and is comfortable managing logistics with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Material Shipping & Logistics
    • Coordinate and execute shipments of research materials (e.g., peptides, proteins, monomers), including temperature-controlled / cold chain shipments
    • Ensure shipments comply with IATA/DOT guidelines and internal procedures
    • Prepare and review shipping documentation (BOL, packing lists, customs forms)
  • Receiving & Inventory
    • Receive, catalog, and store incoming materials in lab freezers and storage areas
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and support routine material counts
    • Track movement of materials across labs and partner sites
  • Lab & Site Support
    • Manage incoming deliveries and process goods receipt
    • Distribute materials to appropriate lab teams
    • Support coordination of onsite logistics and act as a point of contact for deliveries and visitors
What We’re Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (science-related preferred)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or inventory management
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work independently
Preferred
  • Experience in a biotech, life sciences, or research lab environment
  • Exposure to handling biological materials (proteins, peptides, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cold chain logistics
  • Working knowledge of IATA and/or DOT shipping guidelines
  • Experience with inventory or ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving R&D environment (not highly structured)
  • Enjoys hands-on work and being close to lab operations
  • Able to adapt quickly and take initiative with minimal direction
  • Organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented

  • Ability to lift/push up to 25 lbs
