Sample / Material Logistics Coordinator\
Madison, WI (100% Onsite)
Pay: $30–$32/hour
Duration: 1-year contract (extension possible)
We are seeking a hands-on Sample / Material Logistics Coordinator to support an R&D team focused on peptide-based research. This role sits within a recently acquired, fast-moving biotech environment and plays a critical part in the movement, tracking, and storage of research materials.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving lab environment and is comfortable managing logistics with a high level of ownership and attention to detail.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Material Shipping & Logistics
- Coordinate and execute shipments of research materials (e.g., peptides, proteins, monomers), including temperature-controlled / cold chain shipments
- Ensure shipments comply with IATA/DOT guidelines and internal procedures
- Prepare and review shipping documentation (BOL, packing lists, customs forms)
- Receiving & Inventory
- Receive, catalog, and store incoming materials in lab freezers and storage areas
- Maintain accurate inventory records and support routine material counts
- Track movement of materials across labs and partner sites
- Lab & Site Support
- Manage incoming deliveries and process goods receipt
- Distribute materials to appropriate lab teams
- Support coordination of onsite logistics and act as a point of contact for deliveries and visitors
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (science-related preferred)
- 3–5+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or inventory management
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Clear communication skills and ability to work independently
- Experience in a biotech, life sciences, or research lab environment
- Exposure to handling biological materials (proteins, peptides, etc.)
- Familiarity with cold chain logistics
- Working knowledge of IATA and/or DOT shipping guidelines
- Experience with inventory or ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving R&D environment (not highly structured)
- Enjoys hands-on work and being close to lab operations
- Able to adapt quickly and take initiative with minimal direction
- Organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented
- Ability to lift/push up to 25 lbs
- Fully onsite role in Madison, WI
