Comp:
- Pay: $46–$50/hr
- Duration: 12-month assignment with strong potential for extension or conversion
- Travel: Up to 10%
Requirements:
- M.S. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering + 4+ years experience OR Ph.D. in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (0+ years)
(Mechanical strongly preferred – Chemical/Electrical not suitable) - Experience with Open-Source Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
- Strong understanding of loading conditions and structural strain analysis
Key Responsibilities:
- Model new processes and optimize process conditions for improved product performance and cost reduction
- Apply FEA/BEM modeling (Abaqus, Ansys, etc.) for product development, manufacturing improvements, and failure analysis
- Thin film modeling & interface adhesion analysis
- Analyze mechanical behavior of soft materials (gels, polymers)
- Develop mathematical models, validate through experimentation, and deliver technical recommendations
- Write technical reports, invention disclosures, and publications
Ideal Background:
- Structural thin film mechanics & material modeling
- Process/product engineering experience
- Knowledge of materials testing techniques
- Strong mathematical and programming skills
