Job Title: Scientist I – Molecular Biology & Protein Biochemistry (Contract)

Pay Rate: Up to $32.14/hour
Schedule: Full-time (occasional evenings/weekends required)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Scientist I to support laboratory operations focused on molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and microbial process development. This role will perform hands-on experimental work, lab-scale fermentation, and analytical testing in a fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare reagents, buffers, media, and laboratory solutions

Perform lab-scale fermentation and microbial cell culture

Set up and operate lab-scale process equipment

Conduct analytical assays (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA)

Analyze, track, and report experimental data

Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with GLP

Communicate results effectively with internal and client teams
Qualifications

B.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, or related field

Minimum 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience

Experience with aseptic technique, pipetting, and microbial cell culture

Familiarity with protein biochemistry and analytical methods

Basic knowledge of fermentation processes

Strong Excel skills (formulas, spreadsheet linking)

Excellent organization, communication, and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Additional Requirements

Ability to work with BSL-1 organisms

Willingness to work occasional off-hours/weekends (10–20%)
