Job Title: Building Code Administrator (2 Positions – Pinellas County & Manatee County)
Pay Rate: $60-$70/hour
Duration: 12 months (with potential to extend indefinitely)
Mileage Reimbursement: $0.70/mile (outside of normal commute)
Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced Building Code Administrators (also known as Building Officials) for two openings—one located in Pinellas County and the other in Manatee County, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations. This includes plan review, issuing permits, conducting on-site inspections, and enforcing code requirements to uphold public health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review construction plans for code compliance prior to permit issuance
- Issue permits for new construction, alterations, and demolition projects
- Perform field inspections at various stages of construction
- Enforce applicable building codes, laws, and ordinances
- Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, and property owners
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, violations, and permits
- Provide technical guidance and interpretations of code requirements
- Active Building Code Administrator license (preferred in Florida)
- If licensed in another state, must obtain Florida endorsement within 90 days
- Reliable personal vehicle for field inspections (position is 100% field-based)
- Eligible for $0.70/mile mileage reimbursement beyond standard commute
- Strong knowledge of local and national building codes
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
