Pay Range: $34-$44/hour
Job Description:
- 12-month contract with the possibility of extending or converting to permanent based on performance and budget.
- Working hours depends on the project being supported. The time varies on each week. Normally notify our slide readers of at least a week prior to the project starts and occasionally 24-hr when there some urgent projects.
- Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid, to determine presence of normal and abnormal components.
- Studies blood cells, their numbers and morphology.
- Performs blood group, type and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes.
- Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer.
- Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.
- Engages in medical research under direction of Chief Medical Technologist.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure.
- Verifies instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data.
- Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement and maintenance needed of equipment.
- Trains and supervises students.
- Current State of California certified CLS/MLS or national certification equivalent (ASCP or AMT)
- Bachelors preferred but not required.
- At least 2-3 years of Hematology experience, specifically in blood and Body Fluid cell identification microscopically.
- Flexibility hours, including weekends or after hours.
